As an independent Episcopal day school, we embrace the rich tradition and values of faith-based Episcopal education in America. Although we are a traditional school in our emphasis on manners, morals and civility, our curriculum is innovative and student centered with an emphasis on independent thinking and problem solving. Our students mature into confident, self-directed learners who recognize the value of collaboration and cooperation in the learning environment. We prepare our students for later education and for life by giving them an appreciation for beauty, a desire for truth and the capacity to love themselves and those around them.

This school, with a strong grounding in the tradition of the Episcopal Church, provides a challenging curriculum with clear expectations for achievement. Parental involvement is key in helping to set and support each student’s individual goals.

GES recognizes the profound obligation of parents and educators to provide our next generation with a scholarly foundation.  To that end, there is a focus on the tools and skills that all students will need to create for themselves a sound, productive, and fulfilling life.

Students learn best in a safe and caring atmosphere with clear expectations of behavior emphasizing respect, responsibility and caring for others.  The school recognizes the values of tolerance and diversity in its own community life.   The spiritual life of the school is centered in the chapel but extends to everyaspect of GES.

The school provides an educational program that encourages students to love and serve God and others.  It prepares students for higher education by offering an academically challenging and creative learning environment.  Above all, it seeks to develop within each student a love for life-long learning, a strong sense of self-worth, and a respect for God’s creation and the dignity of every human being.

Greenbrier Episcopal School was founded in 1999 by parents, educators and community members.  We are a non-profit educational organization with a Board of Trustees.  As an independent Episcopal day school within the Episcopal Diocese of West Virginia, we hold membership with the National Association of Episcopal Schools and the School and Student Service for Financial Aid.

We are a vital community of approximately 80 children in grades Pre-Kindergarten through Eight, families and staff, all working together to provide the best possible atmosphere for optimum growth of the students.  We want to ensure that  Greenbrier Episcopal School flourishes for the children of today and for generations to come.
